When stressed, don’t forget…

Sometimes we get so caught up in our hectic lives that everything and anything feels so stressful! It’s Monday, which for a lot of us means ‘back to work’ day… or in my case back to cramming! Cramming an assignment that’s due tomorrow.. and tomorrow I’ll be cramming the other three that are due this week. Just after a weekend of finishing off an assignment you think a breather and break would be a necessity? Try telling my lecturers that! That’s the thing about college, there’s three weeks of no work and all fun then all of a sudden ten assignments pile up at once out of nowhere!!!

Anyway, I’m not here to complain about my assignments or my lecturers or weekend, I swear! I’m here to advise those of you who are stressed out on how to calm down, survive and maintain your mental health πŸ™‚ For instance I’m only here because writing tends to put my mind at ease when stressed out!

We create our own stress!

So what even is stress? Ironically enough, I just so happened to be doing my assignment on stress today! The definition really caught my attention:

Stress is a biological and psychological response experienced on encountering a threat that we feel we do not have the resources to deal with”

Events, things, people etc are only a threat and stressful if we think they are. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. We often perceive things as ten times worse than they actually are which creates so much unnecessary stress! Instead of looking at all the negative aspects of a situation, focus on the positive ones and do as much as you can without stressing youself out! πŸ™‚

It’s okay to have a mental health day

Whenever life get’s to hectic to handle, it’s okay to take a step back and do something for you! For me, it’s writing this post and listening to The Script. For others it might mean lying in bed resting for the day, watching your favourite movie or catching up with a friend! Some days it might feel like it won’t stop raining or the sun will never shine again but you just have to put your umbrella up & do what makes you happy with a big smile on your face πŸ™‚ It’s totally necessary to put yourself first sometimes!! There’s nothing more important than your mental health and don’t let anyone ever make you feel otherwise!

Take three deep breaths

Taking deep breaths can help our bodies relax and help us think clearly! Sometimes we get so caught up in the moment freaking out about something so small and insignificant like a test or a mistake made, it’s important to calm yourself down and do as much as you can & no more. Deep breaths and cookies- my answer to moments of stressing out. (OH and water, lots of water is good for hydration and well being) :).

You are never alone!

There’s roughly 7.4 billion people in the world according to Mr.Google. Many people are having rainy stressful days like you, which means there’s so many people who feel and think the way you do and are waiting for someone to talk to. Never be afraid to say hi to someone new or tell somebody how you feel because that’s what the 7.4 billion people on this planet are here for. You might feel so alone one day then the next you might meet a best friend or soul mate! You just never know really. Open your door and open your eyes, and your mouth! Never forget that you aren’t alone when you feel stressed out or sad, there’s so much wonderful things and people to look forward to πŸ™‚

NOTHING IS EVER AS BAD AS IT SEEMS.

Last but definitely not least, here’s a lovely quote to cheer you all up πŸ™‚

I know today is Monday and you assume it’s going to suck, but according to statistics, there will be over 5,000 weddings, 10,000 childbirths, and 42 million hugs occurring today throughout the United States. Also today, there will be at least 4 people that will win the multimillion dollar lotteries, 600 people will get promotions at work, and 3,000 people will lose their virginity. There will also be 600 dogs adopted, 35,000 balloons sold, and 800,000 skittles eaten. Plus, the words β€œI love you” will be said over 9 million times. So again, I know today is Monday and you assume it’s going to suck, but just smile, because according to statistics, it should actually be a really nice day.
