We often know what people’s job title or relationship status is, but do we ask them what they are interested in? Below is a list of some things I am interested in. The list naturally changes as I move through life, though some core values will stay the same.
– Human behaviour
– The power of community
– Swimming in the sea
– Writing and creative freedom
– Animals
– Nature
– Love
– Traveling and opening up to different cultures and different ways of living
– Allowing people to mess up without cancelling them
– Feeling the fear and doing it anyway
– The magic that comes from vulnerability and intimacy
– Injustice, power struggles, class division, & the impact of colonialism on native people
– Figuring out what you like outside of what your parents and society tells you you like
– The power of language and words in influencing people (propaganda, persuasion, abuse)
– Society’s obsession with celebrities and people in power: commodifying people and seeing them as superhuman things, then the ignorance to people living in poor conditions
– Addiction
– Mental health and suicide
– Children and play: the pure joy and love of play that kids experience and what we can all learn from this
– Dancing
– Music
– Stories, books, movies
– Psychology
– Spirituality: why are we quick to believe everything in a textbook or on the internet (created by humans) but aren’t open to the fact humans don’t know everything
– Kindness
– That feeling when we don’t know what to say when people open up about their struggles
– Why binge drinking, drug use and gambling is normalized but admitting you struggle with it is stigmatized
– Why are so many people killing themselves
